WHAT IS GYNECOMASTIA?

Gynecomastia is a medical condition characterized by abnormal enlargement of the mammary glands in men.

This can cause an unwanted feminine appearance to the chest. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances, medication side effects, or underlying medical conditions.
Gynecomastia treatment aims to correct this abnormality and restore the chest to a more masculine and aesthetically balanced appearance.

How is the treatment performed?

The procedure to treat gynecomastia is performed through specialized surgery that may include the following techniques:

  • Liposuction: used to remove excess fat in the chest area. Through small incisions, a cannula is inserted to suction out the accumulated fatty tissue.
  • Subcutaneous Mastectomy: In cases where there’s a significant excess of glandular tissue, a subcutaneous mastectomy is performed to remove the breast tissue without affecting the skin of the chest.
    This may require larger incisions.
  • Skin Resection: If the skin of the chest has become sagging after the tissue has been removed, a resection may be necessary to tighten and reshape the skin

Recovery:

Recovery from this procedure depends on the technique used. We recommend following all instructions from your Plastic Surgeon for a completely satisfactory recovery and long-lasting results.
